Service Scope
With increasing concern on the environment, durable textile with a longer lifespan help save the need of customer’s next purchase and the resource of our mother nature.
Despite the various comments exist for “durable” claim and a harmonised standard is yet to be set, there are a few generally agreed key factors to define durability:
– to keep construction intact after prolonged use
– to resist color changes and keep appearance after provided care
– to maintain the intended additional function during use
For these, this page provides a few ideas that make your garment fulfil its service as intended. Functional test will be conducted and be repeated after provided care instructions.

Test Type
Durable Press (Easy Care / Non-Iron / Wrinkle Free)
How much care needs to be given to maintain the smooth appearance on your shirts or the pleats on your skirt? One of the common textile functions that helps your product stand out from others is “durable press” – the ability to maintain its original shape with minimal care.Wash & Wear Durable Press test helps you evaluate the effectiveness of the durable press treatment by assessing shape keeping and crease retention after washes.
While resin finishing could help to bring durable press effect to your garment, the strength of the fabric would, however, often be sacrificed. Balances between the shape retention function and fabric strength must be stroked for optimal effects.
To have comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatment, our “Durable Press” package test consists of Wash & Wear Durable Press test and additional strength check to ensure the overall outcome of the treatment is meeting market expectation. Please refer to test plan for details.
- Oil & Stain Repellent
The appearance of the apparel could be kept by resisting external contaminant. Contaminant can include liquid-based or oil-based stains. The test evaluates sample’s liquid and oil repellency, and repeats after laundering to check for function maintenance.
- Stain Release
Another way to keep apparel look new would be the ability to release contaminant during laundering procedure. The test intentionally stains the sample fabric, then sample would undergo laundering procedure and be checked for whether it could restore the original appearance. Test will repeat after wash.
- Ultra Strength
Broken seams, torn fabric, abraded color …… these shortens apparel’s lifespan and takes away customers’ faith.With market’s need of a more durable textile, the package is designed for testing textiles with stringent requirements on various aspect including strength and appearance retention to make sure it meets client’s expectation on apparel’s longevity.

“Durable Press” package test
Test Item:
- Wash & Wear Durable Press
- Tensile Strength / Tearing Strength / Bursting Strength (knit)
- Opt-in Chemical Check: Formaldehyde #
Oil & Stain Repellent
Test Item:
- Oil & Aqueous liquid repellency (Test repeated after certain cycles of customer care. )
- Opt-in Chemical Check: Perfluorinated Chemicals #
Stain Release
Test Item:
- Soil release (Test repeated after certain cycles of customer care. )
- Opt-in Chemical Check: Perfluorinated Chemicals #
Ultra Strength
Test Item:
- Tensile Strength / Tearing Strength / Bursting Strength / Seam Strength
- Pilling Resistance
- Abrasion Resistance
- Above performance test would be tested as received stage and after an exaggerated number of cycles of customer care.
- Appearance assessment after first, halfway and after all number of cycles of customer care.
- If your would like to check for similar parameter as received stage (without washes), you may want to look up Strength Test Package.
- No Opt-in Chemical Check with the Package.
If needed, you may want to look for Basic Chemical Test in Fabric Swatch Test Package or Textile Material in ECO Test Package.
Remarks
The test items will be adjusted depending on your product type and age range. Only specific test items will be applied to selected product type, test type and destination market. Detailed test item list will be included in order confirmation email upon purchase.

# To save your test budget, composite test is applied whenever applicable. Only ONE group of chemical test is included in test package. Similar materials on sample will be gathered for analysis. In case any restricted chemical is detected in composite testing, additional individual checking may be required. Applicant will be informed in that case.

No, you can’t cancel and refund the paid order unless there is quality or service delivery issue.
Generally speaking, Wrinkle Free (Higher level) > Wrinkle resistance > Non-iron > Easy care (Lower level). A higher requirement will be applied on fabric claiming wrinkle free than that claiming easy care.
Resin finishing used for the desired shape retention would commonly cause brittleness of fabric structure at the same time. This results in lowered strength of the fabric (weakened tensile strength, tearing strength or abrasive resistance), which could potentially lead to easy breakage of fabric during customer used. Hence, conducting these strength checks on the same treated fabric can help secure the use expectation being met. Meanwhile, various chemicals may be used in the treatment, of which commonly found is formaldehyde. Residual formaldehyde is a highly concerned textile chemical which can cause allergy or even carcinogenic. Formaldehyde test is a way to check on this harmful treatment residual.
