Service Scope
A good sleep recharges you from an exhausted day. But if there are down filling that penetrates the fabric, abraded holes that leak inside stuffing … under qualified bedding items annoys instead.
This page consolidates the most common compliance and quality assurance testing for bedding items primarily for warmth, including blanket, quilt and indoor sleepbag, to help you assure the product is meeting general market requirement.
In addition, baby sleepbag that are designed to prevent the child from kicking it off during sleep is in high concern of safety and comfort, where additional product standards are available.
The package does not include special functional claim substantiation. If your sleepbag/pillow have additional claims such as dust mite proof, bed bug barrier, etc, please feel free to contact us for tailor made comments.

- (Available Soon) EN 16779-1 Textile child care article – Safety requirements and test methods for children’s cot duvets
This is specific requirement for children’s cot duvet that are expected to cover child’s body and with filling material permanently sewn, aiming to provide sufficient warmth in contained sleeping environment like cod or crib. It is applicable to children approximately up to 36 months.
The standard EXCLUDES removable duvet covers. But permanent decorative outer fabric is in scope.

This is specific requirement for children sleep bags that are expected to provide sufficient warmth in sleeping environment like cod or crib. It is applicable to approximately under 24months infants who are unable to climb out of the cod or crib.
The standard EXCLUDES outdoor use sleepbag, for use on car seat (e.g. foot muff), or for use by premature or low birth weight children.

These market packages includes the basic suggested test item, dividing into test type: physical performance, quality test, and basic chemical test.
Basic Physical Test
Our physical test package presents the most important physical tests that may affect compliance.

Basic Physical & Quality Test
Our physical & quality test package is an advanced version of basic physical package, consolidating the most common physical performance tests applying to bedding products.

- Colorfastness Test
- Washing Test
- Strength Test
- Abrasion & Pilling Resistance
The test items will be adjusted depending on the marketplace and actual sample.
Basic Chemical Test (#composite test)
Our chemical test package includes the basic hazardous chemicals based on material type and market recall risks.
Test items (for reference only):
- Total Heavy Metals
- Phthalates
- Formaldehyde
- Azo dye
- pH value
The test items will be adjusted depending on the marketplace and actual sample.
EU: Due to the wide range of regulations, not all EU regulatory chemical tests are included, but selected based on recall risk only.
US: Only US federal test are included. State laws are excluded.

These two product packages are regulatory requirement infant products going to EU, and is highly recommended for other destinations. The package will include ALL mandatory chemical + physical test according to specified standard,

Remarks
The test items will be adjusted depending on your product type and age range. Only specific test items will be applied to selected product type, test type and destination market. Detailed test item list will be included in order confirmation email upon purchase.
* There is no harmonized flammability test method that applies to general apparel for EU market. Result may be shown as data only without pass/fail. Some specific European countries (Sweden / Norway / Netherlands / Switzerland) may have specific flammability standards. If you expect your product going into these countries, please contact us instead.
Basic physical test package does not include any comment on care labelling. If you are looking for a care instruction development, please consider “Care Label Recommendation” in Washing Tests.
If your product is composed of white color or indigo dye (which is common for denim), you may want to consider additional Colorfastness Tests for White Color/Indigo Dye. Dye for these color types are especially vulnerable to certain warehouse condition.
# To save your test budget, composite test is quoted for chemical testing. Similar materials on sample will be gathered for analysis. In case any restricted chemical is detected in composite testing, additional individual checking may be required. Applicant will be informed in that case.
