The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) are an international, voluntary, comprehensive product certification standards that verifies recycled content in products, and implements requirements along the chain of custody, including the traceability of recycled material and  recycled product quality control.
The GRS includes additional requirements for social responsibility, environmental management and chemical restrictions.
The RCS certification requires products with a range from 5% to 100% recycled content, whilst GRS certification requires products between 20% and 100% recycled content, a minimum 50% recycled content is eligible of using the GRS logo.
Both GRS and RCS certifications establish a chain of custody using Scope Certificates (SC) and Transaction Certificates (TC)
SC is a document indicates an organization’s ability to produce according to the standards. The SC lists certified products and/or product categories, as well as the production processing, and trading activities that have been certified within the scope of the certification.
TC is a certificate verifies that the products produced and traded comply with the standards’ requirements. The certificate shall be issued by the certification body of the processing unit (or trading unit).
