Workshop Brief
Given the recent surge in COVID-19 in Hong Kong and the government’s response, local pet owners are understandably anxious. We are going to share some information on what you should / shouldn’t do and what you need to prepare if a pet owner needs to be isolated from home. What activities we can do with our beloved pet during COVID-19 Pandemic would also be introduced with some basic First Aid procedures for our pet.
The workshop also provide tips on quality product selection and identify the high risk areas in pet products.

Speaker Profile
Dr. Gary Lo Ka Shun
Senior Veterinary Surgeon (BVMS, PGCertVS, MVS)
The Ark Veterinary Hospital – Pet Space Group
Dr. Gary qualified from Murdoch University in 2009 and later obtained PGCertVS and MVS certificates. With a strong interest in orthopedics and soft tissue surgery, he joined The Ark in 2010, and became the Hospital Manager in 2016. Dr. Gary is aware of the stress vets are facing from constantly coping with patients’ death and managing client expectations. So he devotes his time to guiding fresh vets and checking in on the wellbeing of those around him. Aspiring to enhance the quality of local services, Dr. Gary makes every effort to establish open communication with pet-owners and promote proper pet care. It’s his #1 priority to ensure our furfriends are treated with compassionate care, so that they can lead a healthy, happy life!
Dr. Gary 在2009年於澳洲默多克大學修讀獸醫學，期後取得 PGCertVS 及 MVS 資歷，現時為香港獸醫協會委員。Dr. Gary 的專長是骨科及軟組織手術﹐他在2010年加入方舟動物醫院，並於2016年晉升為醫院經理。Dr. Gary 希望透過指導和培訓年輕一代的獸醫，提升本地動物的醫療水平。他同時關注同僚工作上的心理健康，獸醫行業壓力高，除了每天面對生老病死，更需要同時兼顧寵物主人的期望。但 Dr. Gary 相信只要與主人保持坦誠及良好的溝通，通過教育與飼主緊密合作，讓毛孩得到妥善照顧，遠離病苦，令牠們過上健康、快樂和長壽的生活。
Ms. Sondy Chiu Mei Yin
Senior Toxicologist (MPH, MSc, ERT, DABT, CBiol, FRSB, FRSPH)
Health and Nutrition, SGS Hong Kong
Sondy Chiu is a senior toxicologist at SGS and has 15 years of experience in risk assessment. She is qualified as a European Registered Toxicologist and Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. She has a master’s degree in toxicology (University of Birmingham) and public health (University of Hong Kong). She has developed an interest in veterinary toxicology and is eager to share knowledge through risk communication.
Sondy Chiu 是 SGS 的高級毒理學家，在風險評估方面擁有 15 年的經驗。她是歐洲註冊毒理學家和美國毒理學委員會的會員。她擁有毒理學（英國伯明翰大學）和公共衛生（香港大學）碩士學位。她對獸醫毒理學產生了興趣，並希望通過風險交流分享知識。
