Test Description
The European standard of EN 149 defines the performance requirements for three classes of particle-filtering half masks:

This is mainly used in the glass industry, foundry, construction, pharmaceutical industry and agriculture. |
 | Filters at least 99% of airborne particles | <2% | The mask offers the highest filtration of this series. It protects against very fine particles such as asbestos and ceramic. It does not protect against gases and in particular nitrogen oxide. |

There are many different types and classifications of respirators, which vary depending on the user’s facial coverage and the intended hazardous atmosphere.
Commonly known as a filtering facepiece or half mask, respirators are those masks whose edges are designed to form a seal around the user’s nose and mouth. This tight facial fit is the one primary differences between respirators and surgical masks that are not intended to provide respirator protection.
