Service Scope
Towels that are torn with after hanging and towels that does not absorb liquid are annoying. If you knew quality before purchase, you would not pay money to buy so. Same way, customer will distrust your brand if they encounter such situation, and will never purchase the next time, or may even make unfavourable comments to your brand on forums.
Torn fabric is cause by week fabric which could have been aware of with testing, while absorbency is a combined result of fabric structure and content that can be determined by testing.
SGS’s towel test package consolidates the most common quality assurance testing for the towel, to help you assure the product is meeting general market requirement.
The package does not include special functional claim substantiation. If your towel has additional claims such as fast drying, antibacterial etc., please feel free to check with us for tailor made comments.

Basic Physical & Quality Test
Our physical test package consolidates the most common physical performance tests applying to home textile products.
- Material Content Analysis
- Physical safety assessment for children
- Colorfastness Test
- Washing Test
- Strength Test
- Towel Absorbency
The test items will be adjusted depending on your product type and age range.
Basic Chemical Test (#composite test)
Our chemical test package includes the basic hazardous chemicals based on material type and market recall risks.
- Formaldehyde
- Azo dye
- pH value
The test items will be adjusted depending on the marketplace and actual sample.
EU: Due to the wide range of regulations, not all EU regulatory chemical tests are included, but selected based on recall risk only.
US: Only US federal test are included. State laws are excluded.
Remarks
The test items will be adjusted depending on your product type and age range. Only specific test items will be applied to selected product type, test type and destination market. Detailed test item list will be included in order confirmation email upon purchase.
Basic physical test packages do not include any comment on care labelling. If you are looking for a care instruction development, please consider “Care Label Recommendation” in Washing Tests.
# To save your test budget, composite test is quoted for chemical testing. Similar materials on sample will be gathered for analysis. In case any restricted chemical is detected in composite testing, additional individual checking may be required. Applicant will be informed in that case.
