ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH & SMS)
ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH & SMS)
About ISO 45001: Occupational Health And Safety Management Systems (OH&SMS)
An Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OH&SMS) is a fundamental part of an organization’s risk management strategy. Implementing an OH&SMS enables an organization to:
- Continual improvement of OH&S performance
- Fulfilment of legal requirements and other requirements
- Achievement of OH&S objectives
ISO 45001:2018 is the internationally recognized standard for an OH&SMS. While it shares some content and requirements with its predecessor, OHSAS 18001:2007, the ISO 45001:2018 standard adopts the Annex SL high-level structure of all new and revised ISO management system standards.
ISO 45001:2018 can be aligned with other management systems standards, such as ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. ISO 45001:2018 was published in March 2018.
